Svalbox is a dynamic project which continuously strives to push the boundaries of what is feasible with emerging technologies that will make geological fieldwork more sustainable and scientific work more quantitative. In parallel with looking ahead, we conduct systematic long-term data acquisition to obtain high-resolution digital outcrop models of all well exposed outcrops around Isfjorden by 2030. The exponential growth of data inevitably means that we will never have the time to manually interpret all available – but we hope that with the advances in machine learning many of these digital outcrop models may be interpreted semi-automatically and we as geoscientists can use this data for ever advancing geoscientific studies. 

Svalbox is all about innovation – and this section showcases some of our ongoing efforts to improve data visualisation, data integration and digital-traditional geoscientific workflows.
