“Svalbox 2.0- Fair geoscientific data from Svalbard” is a widely international UNIS-led network project, which includes partners from 16 institutions. Main focus of this collaboration will be the fair data use of geoscientific data from Svalbard and to enhance visibility and use of Svalbox beyond UNIS.
The Svalbox 2.0 project has three main objectives:
- Make the data in Svalbox openly available, and increase the usage and visibility of Svalbox beyond UNIS courses through targeted online presence and in‐person events.
- Integrate existing and available data into Svalbox’s online portal, and conduct infill acquisition of new data (digital models, 360°panoramas, GigaPan imagery and digital sedimentary logs) and include additional data types (such as geophysical surveys or environmental thematic maps).
- Using the Svalbox platform as an enabler, establish a data‐driven pilot project on the HALIP magmatism as a prototype of how Svalbox can add value to research projects in Svalbard by including a sample database map and direct sample‐to‐digital model linkage.
